FKM-Guideline

Calculated Strength Analysis for Mechanical Components

Our standard tool for static and fatigue analysis of components. We perform the analysis using the stresses from the FEM calculation, including evaluation of notches, surface effects, and sensitivity to mean stress.

EN 13445-3

Unfired pressure vessels

Design of pressure vessels in accordance with both standard formulas and the design-by-analysis approach using finite element analysis. We perform verification checks for plastic deformation and fatigue.

AD 2000

Pressure vessel

An alternative approach to compliance with EN 13445-3 if your customer or testing agency requires the AD regulations—which is often the case in plant engineering and for existing facilities.

Design calculations for steel structures, frames, and welded structures, including stability and fatigue. Relevant wherever mechanical engineering is combined with structural engineering.

Rail Vehicles

EN 12663

Strength Requirements for Rail Vehicle Car Bodies

Verification of the structure against the load cases specified in the standard—static longitudinal and vertical loads as well as operating loads. We perform fatigue analysis and verify the required stiffness and natural frequency criteria using finite element analysis.

Strength Requirements for Frames

Definition and mathematical verification of the requirements for frames. We evaluate exceptional and operational load cases and verify both the static strength and the fatigue strength.

Systematic Calculation of Bolted Joints

Calculation of single-bolt and multi-bolt fasteners—from the compliance of the clamped parts, through settlement behavior and tightening factor, to fatigue strength and surface pressure. We also offer design analyses of bolted joints in combination with finite element analysis.

All results are checked for three things: whether the mesh is sufficiently fine, whether the physical target variables have reached a steady-state value (physical convergence—for steady flows), and whether the solution converges numerically.
